Europe in My Region 2016

27/4/2016

"Europe in My Region" is an EU-wide communications campaign run as a way to encourage citizens to discover and learn more about EU-funded projects near them. For the first time this year four different initiatives (public openings of EU co-funded projects, a treasure hunt, a photo competition and a blogging campaign) will involve the public in visiting projects and sharing images and experiences via social media. "Europe in My Region" will run from 29 April to 11 June in 23 EU countries including Greece, involving over 1,200 events.

EU Open Project Days
More than 20 EU countries including Greece are participating in the Europe-wide Open EU Project Days: Throughout May beneficiaries of EU co-financed projects proudly present their achievements to citizens. Check out the interactive map of events to discover where and when you can find out all events taking place all over Europe. In Greece events are organized in 9 regions and details are published here.

Facebook photo competition
By featuring the result of an EU co-financed project in a photo (while clearly showing evidence of the EU funding, such as the plaque), you have a chance to win a photography course with a professional photographer and a trip to Brussels. The competition runs from 2 May to 28 August via the European Commission's Facebook page.

Treasure Hunt
In parallel to the Open EU Project Days activities you can participate in a treasure hunt, which can be solved by finding hidden hints throughout Europe and solving an online quiz. You have a chance to win a trip to a European capital. The Treasure Hunt will be launched on 28 April here.

Blogging Campaign
This year also sees the introduction of a blogging campaign. Bloggers can post about local projects, as well as enter and promote the photo competition. All good posts are translated and republished via a dedicated blog. A jury will select 3 bloggers to invite to Brussels for the European Week of Regions & Cities.
