Contract signed for three flagship project proposal ideas on Sustainable Tourism to be developed under EUSAIR Strategy

6/10/2020

The Ministry of Tourism of Croatia, being the coordinator of the Thematic Steering Group 4: Sustainable Tourism in the EUSAIR Strategy has signed a contract with a group of tenderers (Institute for Tourism and WYG Consulting ltd from Zagreb) for the development of three project ideas into mature strategic project proposals embedded in a transnational and cross-sectoral context.

The contract worth HRK 1,526,000 (€ 202,753.88) relates to the development of three projects:

  • CulTourAIR: A project which improves the existing system of cultural tourism statistics in order to facilitate informed decision-making regarding sustainable and responsible management of the entire cultural tourism product in the Adriatic-Ionian region and enables countries of the Adriatic-Ionian region to conduct research and monitor cultural needs, resources, local economies and societies.

  • DES_AIR: Its scope relies in developing human capital through targeted education of the tourism sector for the integrated sustainable management of tourist destinations in the Adriatic-Ionian. Human capital is recognized by EUSAIR as the most valuable form of capital, and  a priority through its 4th Thematic Pillar.

  • Green Mapping:  It aims in supporting the development, market positioning and promotion of tourism activities and destinations in the EUSAIR countries as key components and stakeholders of sustainable tourism development of the Adriatic-Ionian macro-region, and it is a project in line with the EU Green Deal, the European Commission's strategy for the achievement of a sustainable EU economy presented in December last year.
