Regeneration of the New Seafront of Thessaloniki from the Royal Theatre to the Sea Sports Clubs, covering a space about 80,000m2. The project involves pedestrian areas (49,700m2), green areas (30,000m2) and water areas (190m2), as well as constructions such as sports courts, refreshment facilities, an outdoor amphitheatre, sculptures, water features and playgrounds. In addition, 1,103 metres of the pedestrian walkway along the seafront will be tree-lined and bicycle lanes expanded.
Benefits: Strengthening of the intensely local character of the area and its attractiveness for locals and visitors alike. Integration of the New Seafront into the overall urban fabric, while at the same time highlighting the ecological character of the area and its role as a ‘green lung’ of Thessaloniki.
