The web portal iris.gov.gr was developed to accommodate, in a uniform manner, all rural services, such as: the Greek Register of Farmers and Agricultural Holdings & the Agricultural Sector Traders’ Register, the personalised services for decision-making with regard to undertaking business activities (agricultural, livestock farming, processing, renewable sources of energy, tourism), the National Food Traceability System for security and quality assurance in the field of agricultural food products, the geo-information soil data system and the system for the delimitation of farmland zones for the restructuring of crops and delimitation of the country’s farmland zones through digital soil maps and the Farmland Management Plan, the information system for utilising modern remote sensing/ inspection development tools and its application in the recording, reporting, evaluation and analysis of natural disasters, for the use of best practices in agriculture accuracy, for the development of tools for special sitting, for the development of tools for mapping and farm tourism.
Benefits: Direct web updates and service, through the single portal, to citizens/farmers as well as business, production contributors in the agricultural sector in the administration of their affairs and trade (one stop shop) with the public administration, transition of the agricultural sector from conventional over to digital transactions utilising Information and Communications Technologies, web management for insurance and compensation from the Hellenic Agricultural Insurance Organization, automated processing and provision of electronic services to the insured and the production and business contributors-parties insured by the Hellenic Agricultural Insurance Organization, reducing compensation and increasing the transparency of compensation to insured parties.
